Mr. West is back in the news, and this time it seems as though it’s good.

Most recently a man by the name of Jemel Roberson was killed by the police while attempting to assist the police with an arrest. The black security guard is another tragic event that continues to pile up in a chain of shooting events amongst the urban community. With racial tension at an all-time high, Kanye has given the family $150,000, along with his condolences.

Kanye made the donation through the GoFundMe page created by the family following the event that took place on November 11th. A fan took a picture of Kanye’s donation and posted it on Instagram this passed Friday.

Roberson leaves behind a 9-month-old son, and a grieving family.  Roberson’s Mother, Beatrice filed a lawsuit against the village of Midlothian, and the unnamed officer who shot Jemel. Beatrice is looking to collect more than $1 million in damage, CNN reported.

“This was going to be my baby’s first Christmas with his dad and now he’s going to miss out on everything,” said Avontea Boose, the mother of Roberson’s 9-month-old son, according to the Associated Press.

Several witnesses stated that a fight broke out at the bar, that led to someone firing a gun. Five people were shot, however there were no life threatening injuries, according to The New York Times. At the moment an investigation is going on into the police officer shooting Roberson.

According to witness accounts, a fight had allegedly broken out in the bar when someone began firing a gun. Five people were shot but the injuries to four of them, including the alleged shooter, were not life-threatening, said Sophia Ansari, a spokeswoman for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, according to The New York Times.

An active investigation is in the works regarding the events that led up to Jemel being shot.
