Tom Cruise was once a dominant force at the box office, but those days are long gone.
Perhaps known best for being the main character in the Mission Impossible franchise, Cruise has faded from his days of glory as an actor. The star of the previous two installments of Jack Reacher movies has done some impressive number. The novel is written by Lee Child.
However, there are some large distinctions from the original novel that present issues for what the current storyline. In the novels, Reacher is described as 6’5 tall, along with hands the size of large plates. Despite having a slew of acting skills, Cruise stands at 5’7, which shorter than the average American male.
Child recently spoke with BBC Radio, and stated that Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.” With that in mind, he will not be recruited for a reboot of the series that will come in television series form. “I really enjoyed working with Cruise,” he continued. “He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun. But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you’re all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn’t have that physicality.”
