2 Chainz Embodies Jay-Z with Black & White “Southside Hov’ Video

2 Chainz continues to flood the streets with new visuals from the critically-acclaimed new So Help Me God album. After “Quarantine Thick,” “Lambo Wrist,” “Can’t Go For That” and “Toni,” Titty 2 Necklace drops a black-and-white video for the Streetrunner-produced “Southside Hov.”

In the new video, in front of two black-and-white Telsas, the Southside, Atlanta native breaks down his old stomping grounds, losing his father and several new business moves like selling his popular Most Expensiviest series to Netflix. The song samples the classic Jay-Z track “Feelin It” from Hov’s debut album Reasonable Doubt. Simultaneously, 2 Chainz pays homage and bids farewell to the billionaire as he has been chasing a feature with the big homie since his 2012 debut on Def Jam which Jay-Z was president from 2004-2007. It’s no secret that 2 Chainz has approached Jay-Z for collaboration along with business advice, but seems to never receive the honor as he has with Jigga-affiliates Meek Mill, Kanye West, The Dream and Lil Wayne.

“I sent the video to Hov because we’re cool. Wanted to show him I wasn’t trying to copy him, but it was a Hov sample, and I was talking about some Hov stuff in the song. Named it ‘Southside Hov.’ He said he’s humbled by it. We had a cool back-and-forth.”

“Southside Hov” also shows the “I’m Different” hitmaker pay tribute to popular Black designer Miguel Wilson. The two have collaborated on several occasions including the rapper’s wedding. On the song, 2 Chainz speaks on Wilson with “Got Riverdale in fingernails. I got the suit from Miguel, I know it fit me well. Lentil soup, I’m on my health kick. I’m ’bout to sell ‘Most Expensivest’ to Netflix.”

Another Def Jam release, So Help Me God includes appearances by Mulatto, NBA Youngboy, Lil Duval, Kevin Gates, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Uzi Vert, Chief Keef, Ty Dolla $ign and so many more. “Southside Hov” and So Help Me God is available now on all DSPs. Watch “Southside Hove” now.
